Justin Martin - Music Specialist
We are excited to welcome Justin Martin to our indoor winds staff! With a rich background in performance and education, Justin brings a wealth of experience to his role as a low Brass and visual Instructor.
Justin’s journey in the world of marching arts began with his participation in the Rossview High School Marching Band from 2006 - 2009. He also marched with the Rossview High School Indoor Drumline in 2007 and was a member of Legend Independent in 2008 and 2009. Justin was a member of Music City Legend Drum and Bugle corps in 2007 and 2008 and Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2010 on Baritone. His time with the MTSU Band of Blue from 2010 to 2013 further honed his skills as both a musician and performer.
In addition to his performance accolades, Justin has made significant contributions to music education. He served as a low brass and visual Instructor at Goodpasture Christian School from 2010 to 2015 and again in 2019, as well as teaching low brass and visual at Spring Hill High School in 2018 and visual/bass drums for the Centennial High School Indoor Drumline in 2014. Currently, he is the Director of Bands at Greenbrier High School, a position he has held since February 2020, and is a member of the Spirit of Alanta Alumni Corps.
Justin graduated from the MTSU School of Music with a degree in Instrumental Music Education, studying trombone under esteemed instructor David Loucky. His mentorship under Prof. Craig Cornish, Dr. Reed Thomas, Andrew Lynn, Jo Ann Hood, Joe Murphy, Dr. Todd Snead, Dr. Andrew Putnam, and Robert W. Smith has shaped his teaching philosophy, focusing on both technical proficiency and artistic expression.
Outside of music, Justin enjoys spending time with his wife, Brooke, and two boys, Jameson and Jackson and playing video games. He believes in fostering a supportive and creative environment where students can thrive and develop their unique voices.
